A Trip to Small-Town Italy, in Dinner Form
Just before Christmas, chef and co-owner Brandon went to Italy to visit his old college friend Amie, a violinist who now lives with her bassist husband Nicola in Manerbio, a small town due east of Milan, in the Lombardy region. While there, he had the great pleasure of eating not only in restaurants, but also in the homes of Nicola's family, where he got to cook alongside Nicola's mother and her friends. And now, lucky us, he's bringing the flavors and dishes he experienced there back to Delancey - for one night only!
The menu* will be finalized the week of, built around fresh produce and local offerings, but you can expect it to look something like this, plus wine and beer pairings TBD:
Pizzetta with local-milk ricotta, prosciutto, and sundried tomato powder, paired with an apertivo * Air-cured beef, shaved artichoke, lemon, and fancy olive oil * Tortellini in Parmesan brodo * Our own cotechino, with long-cooked potatoes and greens * Nicola's family almond cake with amaro whipped cream, paired with an amaro shakado
