Art History with Gary Faigin - The Greatest Show on Earth: A Look at the Universal Language of the Human Face
BIMA is pleased to partner with Kitsap Regional Library on their popular LIBRARY U program with three presentations in the BIMA Auditorium by Gary Faigin. Gary is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Gage Academy of Art, an artist, instructor educator, and author of The Artists Complete Guide to Facial Expression.
About this session: The 36 square inches of the human face that contains the eyes, nose, and mouth, has an ability to communicate emotion that is unparalleled in the animal kingdom. Gary Faigin, author of the classic reference book The Artists Complete Guide to Facial Expression, takes us on a guided tour of this fascinating landscape, demonstrating how slight changes in brows, mouths, and eyelids encode and display emotion. Faigin employs numerous examples from great art and photojournalism to highlight and explain vivid faces and dramatic feelings. The new art of computer animation has given artists one more, very powerful tool, to put facial expression front and center, and well look at some of their recent successes. You wont look at faces quite the same again.
