Art History with Gary Faigin - The Art Lover's Bucket List: 10 European Art Masterworks That Everyone Should See Before They Die
BIMA is pleased to partner with Kitsap Regional Library on their popular LIBRARY U program with three presentations in the BIMA Auditorium by Gary Faigin. Gary is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Gage Academy of Art, an artist, instructor educator, and author of The Artists Complete Guide to Facial Expression.
About this session: Join Seattle artist, art educator, tour leader, and art critic Gary Faigin for a lively hour exploring 10 not-to-be-missed art experiences in Europe, culled from his many years of leading art tours to capitols like Rome, Paris, Madrid, and Berlin. Faigin will share both the images and the stories of one-of-a-kind masterworks like Boschs terminally bizarre Garden of Earthly Delights, or Frans Hals colossal, livelier-than-life portraits of partying militia men in Golden Age Holland. While some of the pieces will be familiar, others are almost unknown and rarely visited, like the by-appointment-only Vasari Corridor in Florence. More than simply a best-of list, this talk is a quick tour through some of the most compelling artist personalities and stories of Western Arta rewarding evening even for the armchair traveler.
