The SoundArts Project Presents... "A Night on Bourbon Street"
On Saturday March 4th, The SoundArts Project, LLC is doing it up again in this SAP sponsored community festival benefit. This time they're transforming the hall into the French Quarter for the evening, in recognition of the closing of Mardis Gras Carnival Season.
Featured headliner "Blue Flag and Black Grass" headlining at 9p. This group is a combination of many flavors of acoustic American Roots Music. With the instrumentation of Banjo, Res-o-phonic Guitar, Fiddle, Washboard, Kazoo and Upright Bass, Blue Flags emulates the String Bands of the 1920s and 30s.
Their typical gig will blend Ragtime, Viper Jazz, Country Blues, Old-Time, Jug Band and Bluegrass. As well as performing classic standards and dusting off hidden gems, Blue Flags also features original songs by Flip Fats McGuire. This Portland based band has a long history of major festival performances like NW Folk Life, Oregon Country Fair, and Sh'Bang Fest.
Other music highlights from 7-8:45, by local performers Tim Cornpropst (Acoustic Guitar), D'Jade (Spinnin' Swamp Pop) and Jon Rose keys & vocals.
