Free to Be...You and Me: A Fundraiser for the Rosendale Theatre
Based on Marlo Thomas's award-winning album of songs, skits, and comedy, "Free to Be..." explores the infinite possibilities of childhood. The iconic show will be performed live at the Rosendale Theater by some of the top talent in The Hudson Valley including: Sari Botton, Claudia Brown, Ann Citron, John Cox, Melinda DiMaio, Dylan Johanson, Lori Gross, Steve Jones, Charlie Knicely, Debbie Lan, Andrea Maddox, Brian Matthews, Jan Melchior, Doug Motel, Ron Parenti, Molly Parker-Myers, Ross Rice, Sophia Skiles, Carl Welden, Tim Whalen and Carrie Wykoff who also directs.
The production is a fundraiser for the historic Rosendale Theatre and all funds raised will go towards the Phase Two Renovation which includes re-doing the façade, bathrooms and lobby of the theater as well as making it ADA compliant. "Free to Be You and Me" features a variety of musical performances, sketches, and art, stressing the equality of boys and girls and the falseness of gender stereotypes.
Forty years ago this November, an album appeared in stores "Free To Be You and Me" aimed to teach kids that boys and girls aren't different at all: that every child, no matter which gender, can wear whatever, like whatever, behave however it wants. That every child can be free just to be.
Bring your family for what is sure to be a once in a lifetime event!
