Carleton Carpenter
Bennington native, Carleton Carpenter, will return to his home town as part of his nationwide tour promoting his new memoir, "The Absolute Joy of Work" and will mark the occasion, Saturday March 4, at 7;30pm with Oldcastle Theatre in a celebration of his more than 70 years in show business as a Broadway and film actor, singer with a ten million selling record, dancer, magician, songwriter, and novelist. His new memoir, "The Absolute Joy of Work begins with his childhood in Bennington and includes work and friendships with leading lights of show business including Stephen Sondheim, Ginger Rogers, Ethel Merman, Robert Walker, Elsa Lanchester, Rod McKuen,, James Garner, Jack Benny, Janet Leigh etc. etc. The Bennington Bookshop will be on hand for anyone interested in purchasing a copy.
