Exploring the National Marine Sanctuaries on the Marin Coast"
As part of the Living Oceans exhibit join one of our featured guests, and exhibit contributor, Jennifer Stock, the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary.
Located just off our coast you will find an underwater paradise known as the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary. In addition, most of our local coastline is a marine protected area and part of the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary which stretches from Point Arena down to San Francisco and the Farallon Islands where it joins the northern border of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
These diverse and fertile ocean areas are home to a multitude of plankton and krill up to a healthy population of whales, including blue whales - the largest mammal on the earth. Learn about the our local sanctuaries, their history, their inhabitants and how we can all be "good neighbors" to these treasured areas.
Light refreshments will be served and the galleries will be open to all guests.
