Love's Joy Awakened
As Calgary blooms in early summer, our thoughts turn to romance. Prepare to be delighted with madrigals by Gesualdo and Monteverdi, Brittens Gloriana Dances, MacMillans Mairi, and Malcolm Forsyths Hesperides, for choir with two harps.
Our Luminous Voices Youth Spotlight guest for this concert will be Mount Royal Arioso, directed by Liz Paynter. They will perform at 2:15pm in the lobby of the Bella. About Arioso:
The choral programs at Mount Royal University allow singers to develop their musicianship from early childhood into adulthood. Arioso provides singers aged 9-14 the opportunity to pursue and experience the challenge, joy and reward of singing the highest calibre of choral music. Exceptional musicianship instruction, varied performance opportunities, and touring, from local to international, build community, social growth, and a passion for excellence. Arioso singers have shared the stage with international choirs, including the Vienna Boys' Choir, at the 2014 World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna. Most recently, Arioso accepted an invitation to attend the 2016 "Unisong Festival," celebrating Canada Day in Ottawa, Ontario.
