Frances-Marie Uitti + Carol Robinson in Residence - 2 NIGHT PASS
INCLUDES ADMISSION TO BOTH PERFORMANCES - 11/2 & 11/3
ISSUE Project Room presents two evenings of performances with Carol Robinson and Frances-Marie Uitti. Paris-based clarinetist Carol Robinson and American-born Dutch cellist Frances-Marie Uitti integrate their individual arts into a finely woven tapestry. Their mutual inclination towards the spiritual and sublime is honed from many parallel years of collaborations with composers, originating from their work with Giacinto Scelsi. Having shared many concerts, they join together as spectacular colorists; two bows, birbyne, string resonators, basset horn in improvisations and compositions using naked sound combined with electronics.
For their two-day residency at ISSUE, these esoteric and virtuosic performers present two evenings of concerts. The opening night includes US Premieres by Giacinto Scelsi, Eliane Radigue, Annie Gosfield and Robinson/Uitti, with work by Jonathan Harvey and John Cage rounding out the program. On the second evening, Robinson and Uitti are joined by Nate Wooley (trumpet) and Satoshi Takeishi (percussion) for a series of improvisations.
On the afternoon of November 3, the artists give a free lecture on their work with musical examples. "Composing with Random Generators" led by Robinson, and "Strips, Tubes and Code", led by Uitti.
