Gilbert Castellanos & Arlene Damasco Present: ART MEETS JAZZ, a new series featuring unique salutes to some of the greatest legends of jazz: Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and more! Southern California artists who support and capture the vibrant San Diego jazz scene utilizing various mediums - photography, watercolor, charcoal, pastels, sketch, etc. - will showcase their original work each night. This series will merge music and art to highlight multiple-perspectives, and the talented musicians, that create the heartbeat of jazz in Americas Finest City.

He has been a driving force in the San Diego jazz scene for over fifteen years. Gilbert is host to the city's longest running weekly jazz jam, is a renowned music educator and champion of the next generation of jazz, curating a weekly Young Lions Series at Panama 66/San Diego Museum of Art. He also serves as Artistic Director for the International Academy of Jazz and continues to find new avenues to keep jazz alive and well!
