Brian Seegers Organic Trio with special guest Brad Walker
The Organic Trios infectious groove, stellar musicianship and compelling compositions have been flooring fans for eight years across Europe and in the States. Featuring New Orleans guitar wizard Brian Seeger, New York-based Luxembourgish drummer Paul Wiltgen and French organ star Johnny Young on the Hammond, their separate resumes include work with Stanton Moore, Bireli Lagrene, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joshua Redman and many others. They have succeeded in updating the possibilities of the classic Hammond B3-powered format, and even better, theyve done it naturally, without any overt effort or artificial ingredients. Sure they swing out and get funky like their honored predecessors, but they also explore the ethereal, the poignant and the bombastic. The Organic Trio has that special 6th sense that only comes when a band of kindred spirits gets to tour together for many years and hundreds of shows.
Their latest CD, Saturns Spell, was released this year on French label Jazz Family. The disc has received rave reviews from the press as well as extensive airplay, ranking in the top 5 on the jazz radio charts. OffBeat magazine sums up the new project like this: "These guys are fresh; they set out to explore and do it in a novel, exciting way.
Appearing with the Trio on this rare stateside appearance is a creative powerhouse in his own right, Brad Walker on saxophones and effects. No stranger to the local Baton Rouge cutting-edge music community, Brad brings a fiery yet musical approach to all of the projects he is involved in, whether his own genre-bending Brad Walker Quintet, funky rockers Johnny Sketch, or country superstar Sturgill Simpson, for whom Brad lead the horn section for Simpson's big run up to the Grammys this year.
