'Resilience - The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope' - Film Screening and Q&A
THE CHILD MAY NOT REMEMBER, BUT THE BODY REMEMBERS.

Researchers have recently discovered a dangerous biological syndrome caused by Adverse Childhood Experiences (or ACES). As the new documentary Resilience reveals, toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison time, and early death.

While the broader impacts of poverty worsen the risk, no segment of society is immune.

Resilience, however, also chronicles the birth of a new movement among pediatricians, therapists, educators and communities, who are using cutting-edge brain science to disrupt cycles of violence, addiction and disease.

The film screening will be followed by a Q&A session with a panel of local area experts:

* Dr. Megan Beers, Senior Director, Infant/Early Childhood mental health, Wellspring Family Services
* Sheila Capestany, Strategic Advisor for Children and Youth, Best Starts for Kids Lead
* Mark Fadool, Clinical Director, Mental Health
Services, Odessa Brown Children's Clinic
* Jessica Lawmaster, Executive Director, Program for Early Parent Support

Moderator: Anthony Detrano, Vice President, Communications and Marketing at Wellspring Family Services

* Registration is required, as seats are limited.
* Should your plans change and you can't attend, please call Brown Paper Ticket at 1-800-838-3006 and ask to be removed from the event's attendance list. We expect a sold out event and appreciate you letting us know if you can't make it, so that we can allow another guest to join us. Thank you.
