New Plays/New Voices
Best Medicine Rep Theater Company is proud to present its first annual performance of plays written by fourth and fifth graders from Montgomery County Public Schools. The plays were created in class with the help of Best Med Rep's Artistic Director John Morogiello through Arts in Education grants from the Maryland State Arts Council.
RACES WITH BUFFALO by Alice Byrne's 4th graders at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School Adapted from the Cheyenne folk tale. Humans compete with animals in a race to see who will be the dominant species and be allowed the privilege of eating the others. THE THIRD FLOOR BEDROOM by Dana Whitman's 5th graders at Potomac Elementary School Inspired by a drawing from The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg, two detectives investigate why a new homeowners wallpaper is coming to life. AGENT 355 by Josephine Luster's fifth graders at Chevy Chase Elementary School Based on the true story of a female spy during the American Revolution, Elizabeth Townshend strives to learn which American general plans to betray his country to the British.
BARON VON STEUBEN by Theresa Friis fifth graders at Chevy Chase Elementary School George Washingtons men are in bad shape at Valley Forge until a colorful baron arrives from Prussia to train them.
