In 1892 Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote The Yellow Wallpaper about a woman stuck in a room to treat postpartum depression until the treatment led to madness. This ambitious new play uses Gilman's original text, combined with two original stories, showing the insanity that can result when the world refuses to believe your story.
Meet a 19th century woman with a "nervous condition," a Chinese-American WWII war bride adjusting to her new life when her husband returns home, and a current-day blogger whose big dreams of writing a real book just came true. Living in the same room--covered in disturbingly ugly yellow wallpaper--in different times in history, the visions they see in the wallpaper begin to tell a familiar story.
Is it the wallpaper or the world outside that unites them?
