B's Bees Jazz Band with Betsy Braud, The Jazz Nurse and her Trio
Montreal group B's Bees is a hard swinging jazz outfit that writes compelling original music. They also play high energy interpretations of the music of past masters. In 2012, they wowed over at 800 people at their debut at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Comprised of six members, they are known for their individual and their collective talents. B's Bees regularly invites special guests to join them onstage. Past guests include: Dave Turner, Dave Grott, Fraser Hollins, Gary Schwartz, Sage Reynolds, Simon Millerd, and Al McLean.
B's Bees has been together since July 2012, when bandleader Brandon Goodwin won a scholarship to play at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. He put together a lineup of some of the young star players in the city and never looked back. In the past year B's Bees has played over 25 performances throughout Montreal including 2 weekly Jazz Parties that ran for 3 months. They are currently on the roster for the House of Jazz. and have also put together an entire show of Charlie Haden compositions, to pay tribute to the recently passed master.
In November 2014, B's Bees went into the studio to record their first album. The album, which is comprised of all original compositions by various members of the group, was released in March 2015 to critical acclaim. It reached the #1 spot on several jazz radio charts, and reached #3 on Earshot's national jazz ranking.
B's Bees sets themselves apart from the rest of the pack through sheer will-power. Their love for the music they play is obvious. They are known for their individual and collective talents. Like their insect counterparts, B's Bees are graceful to look at, but can sting when provoked. Let them swarm your ears and pollinate your soul.
