Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley
Set in Hazlehurst, Mississippi in 1974, Crimes of the Heart follows the travails of the three Magrath sisters -- Lenny, Meg, and Babe -- as they cope with their changing lives. Reunited in their grandfathers home after Babe is arrested for shooting her husband, the women must learn to escape their past in order to seize the future. This Southern Gothic tragicomedy won the Pulitzer Prize in 1981 and was lauded as an early feminist play.
