KNIGHTS ELITE
The Patchwork Theatre of Niagara will be debuting a world premier of a new theatrical production titled Knights Elite, an american tokusatsu. Billed as "Power Rangers for grown ups," it was originally conceived and planned as an ongoing web-series in 2013 however the screenplay was adapted for the stage to take a grounded look at a genre of entertainment often considered to be cheesy and immature. Set 10 years after the final battle between good and evil, when world economies have collapsed and recovered, the forces of evil have started to return and the play follows an unlikely but relatable group of heroes including a veteran with survivors guilt, (played by Jon Brittanovich), a single parent with anger issues, (played by Nicole Morreale) and a brilliant high school student with aphasia (played by 16 year old Matthew Dompkowski) as they battle the forces of the tragic villain Voltage (played by Courtney Gerou). A love letter to tokusatsu television shows (Power Rangers, Kamen Rider) Knights Elite does include heroes transforming into powered super heroes, however the focus is on the characters rather than the high fantasy action in this dramatic production written by Patchwork founder Billy Horn and Directed by Elliot Fox.
