Join professionals and community members from across the Bay Area for a day-long symposium on the impact of child abuse, how our community is working to address child abuse, and new approaches in prevention and treatment services. In its 35th year, the annual Child Abuse Council Symposium has long been known as an opportunity to hear new ideas, network with colleagues, and return to work with a fresh energy and perspective. Whether this is your first or 35th year in attendance, we look forward to your participation at this year's event.

The Power of a Positive, Trauma-Informed, Strength-Based Approach in Reshaping the Lives of At-Risk Children, Youth and Families Strength-based practice is an emerging approach that is exceptionally positive and inspiring in guiding at-risk children, youth, and families. Its focus is on strength-building rather than flaw-fixing. Strength-based practice begins with the belief that every young person has, or can develop, strengths and utilize past successes to mitigate problem behavior and enhance functioning. The keynote presentation, and subsequent workshop, will highlight many of the key principles and techniques of this transforming modality.
