Tret Fure in concert at Sundilla
It has been almost a decade since she last played here, so were long overdue in saying Tret Fure returns to Sundilla on Firiday, March 24! Showtime at the AUUF is 7:30, advance tickets are just $12 and can be found at Spicers Music, Blooming Colors, and online at www.sundillamusic.com; admission at the door will be $15. Free coffee, tea, water and food will be available, and the audience is invited to bring whatever food or beverage they prefer.
Perhaps no one has taken the Sundilla stage with a resume as varied as that of Tret Fure. She began singing in coffeehouses and on campuses at the age of 16. By the time she was 20 she was performing as a guitarist and vocalist for Spencer Davis, and even wrote a song for him that was released as a single. In 1973 she recorded her first album, which was produced by the legendary Lowell George of Little Feat. She opened for bands such as Yes, Poco, and The J. Geils Band.
While recording her second album she became interested in sound engineering, and became of the first female sound engineers in the music business. She became one of the frontrunners in the world of independent music, and then took on the same role in womens music. She started her own record label, and also markets of her own line of clothing. When not on the road, Tret teaches guitar and songwriting individually and in workshop settings. She paints pet portraits on commission and, an accomplished cook, has also published a cookbook, Tret's Kitchen, featuring her own recipes. Along with bridging the marketing, production, music and art worlds, Tret also serves as President of Local 1000, The Traveling Musicians Association--a union geared toward helping traveling musicians find security and longevity.
Somehow she has found the time to release 15 CDs, and in 2004 she won two of the three categories in the South Florida Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter Competition. 2004 also brought her recognition with the prestigious Jane Schliessman Award for Outstanding Contributions to Womens Music. Her most recent release was chosen by The Midnight Special as their Album of the Week, and the first single from that album climbed as high as #2 on the charts.
Writer, producer, engineer, songwriter, vocalist and gifted instrumentalist Tret Fure finally returns to Sundilla on Friday, March 24; showtime at the AUUF is 7:30. Advance tickets cost just $12 and can be found at Spicers Music, Blooming Colors, and online at www.sundillamusic.com. Free coffee, tea, water and food will be available, and the audience is invited to bring whatever food or beverage they prefer.
