West County Film Society presents "Limon - A Life Beyond Words"
Occidental Center for the Arts is proud to host the West County Film Societys inaugural networking and screening event!
Limon A Life Beyond Words Friday, February 17th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM
The West County Film Society seeks to help filmmakers, film lovers and arts organizers join forces in support of global justice. All are welcome, filmmakers and film enthusiasts are strongly encouraged to attend and join our network of supporters! Bring your ideas and suggestions!
As part of the inaugural meeting of this newly-formed alliance, we will screen Limon A Life Beyond Words written, directed and edited by Malachi Roth. Mr. Roth will entertain questions from the audience at the conclusion of the film.
Limon A Life Beyond Words depicts the life of revolutionary modern dancer and choreographer José Limon (1908-1972), described by the New York Times as the greatest male dancer of his own or any other time. The film has won awards for Best Film Made for Television at the Montreal Festival of Films on Art, Best Documentary at the Ajijic Festival Internacional de Cine in Mexico, and Best Documentary on the Arts at the Wine Country Film Festival in California. The film has screened at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Pompidou Center, 92nd Street Y, Symphony Space, and the National Portrait Gallery.
There is no charge to attend donations are gratefully accepted. Refreshments available. OCA is accessible to people with disabilities.
