The Sudbury Savoyards Present The Mikado
Whenever we think of the most beloved of the comic operettas written by Gilbert and Sullivan, the answer is very often the same: "The Mikado". Wildly popular ever since its first performance in 1885, it is a most sharply drawn satire of British manners and morals that still keeps modern audiences laughing today. A timeless piece of theatrical wit and verve, it is full of high spirits and high jinks.
This year our fully staged "Gilbert and Sullivan on a Grand Scale" will be presented at the beautiful new Maynard High School auditorium, 1 Tiger Drive, Maynard, MA, 01754. This is a gorgeous venue for us and we are extremely excited about this new theater. Performance spaces span the gamut just like the Goldilocks story and this one is "just right". It is a joy for us to perform in and we are sure you will love it too.
As is our tradition, there will be a full orchestra led by our Music Director Craig Tata and aided by Assistant Music Director Matt Tragert who will also appear as the lofty and irrepressible Poo-Bah. The production is directed by our Stage Director James Ravan with Susan Elberger as Assistant Stage Director.
For those of you familiar with The Sudbury Savoyards, we have many returning cast favorites. In addition, we are proud to present new voices in this production who are sure to please. The Mikado cast includes:
Ben Morse as Ko-Ko Tim Daughters as Pish-Tush Matt Tragert as Pooh-Bah Randy Glidden as The Mikado Stephen Im as Nanki-Poo Lindsey Soboleski as Yum-Yum Katrina Skidmore as Peep-Bo Pamela Ryba as Pitti-Sing Carolyn Schwartz as Katisha
So if you see one musical theater event this season, please come and enjoy our Mikado. It is a fast-paced show full of farce and fun. You are sure to leave laughing and singing all those great songs! Order your tickets today!
