GOD OF VENGEANCE
BACK WITH A VENGEANCE - LIMITED ENGAGEMENT - 2 WEEKS ONLY!

"A timely revival...The play is remarkable...Beautifully played...The cast's commitment brings the work's flashes of lyricism to powerful life."
- Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

"Astonishing revival...No less provocative almost a century later...The entire cast is superb...Engrossing to watch...The story, timeless themes, and searing sense of drama transcend language...The audience will truly be left speechless."
- Jed Ryan, The Huffington Post

Back by popular demand, The New York Times Critics' Pick returns for 14 performances, presented in the original Yiddish with English supertitles. After a sold-out run in the East Village, New Yiddish Rep restages its hit production in the Theater District under the direction of Fringe Festival founder Aaron Beall.

Explosive in its conflicted portrayal of Judaism, "God of Vengeance" tells the heart-wrenching story of a brothel owner's attempt to shepherd his daughter to religious observance and a respectable marriage, only to watch her plummet into the life of sin in which he raised her.  The subject of Paula Vogel's "Indecent," the show is credited with presenting the first lesbian kiss on Broadway when its English adaptation premiered in 1923.

The box office opens 1 hour before the scheduled start time.
