Blithe Spirit
Edison State College Theatre presents Noel Coward's hilarious romp, Blithe Spirit. The play is set in the socialite world of novelist Charles Condomine who finds himself haunted by the ghost of his first wife Elvira. Her unexpected arrival is the unintended result of a séance conducted by the eccentric neighborhood clairvoyant, Madame Arcati. Elvira causes havoc when she attempts to reunite with her husband Charles, against the wishes of his very much alive second wife, Ruth. When Charles calls back the medium to try and set things right, events go from bad to worse.
Coward wrote Blithe Spirit in just five days in 1941, and its first production opened that same year. The first production ran for a total of 1,997 performances in London's West End and then moved to Broadway where it enjoyed huge success as well. Blithe Spirit is crowd pleasing favorite that enjoyed a Broadway revival in 2009.
Show dates are November 8-11 & 14-17 at 8pm with matinee performances on Sunday and Wednesday at 2pm at the Edison State College Black Box (L119-B).
