Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 4th year, this popular monthly (every 2nd Monday of the month) comedy show features the best of Bay Area comedians and beyond. The show takes place at El Rio in The Mission District as that is where San Francisco comedian and comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz), began her stand up comedy career 23 years ago.
The November 12th show features David Hawkins, Samson Koletkar, Stefani Silverman, Kate Willett, and hostess, Lisa Geduldig
David Hawkins has been performing on Bay Area stages for just over 20 years. Starting out as a member of SFs legendary Sick and Twisted Players and as host of the queer cabaret Klubstitute, he then went on to co-produce and host the Dallas midnight movie series Shock Cinema. He has worked as an MC and host for the USA Film Festival, SF LGBT Pride Mainstage and Castro Street Fair. He began doing stand up in 2005 and has appeared at the SF Punchline, The Comedy Store, The National Queer Arts Festival and countless other clubs, festivals and dark bars. He is currently writing his first novel, Charmed I'm Sure, based on his time in the queer avant garde underground.
Samson Koletkar is Indian and Jewish and was born in Mumbai. As a first generation immigrant in America, Samson brings a refreshingly new approach to cerebral, witty, thought-provoking, clean humor with a global perspective. Driven by personal trials and tribulations, his subtle satire addresses religious and political hypocrisies, social issues, and day-to-day absurdities of human nature. He won the 2010 Asian American Theater Company Comedy Competition, has performed at clubs, colleges and corporations in India, Canada and 12 states in the US and has been featured on Asian Jewish Life, Indian Express, NBC, CBS, and NPR.
Stefani Silverman is a San Francisco native who performs all over the Bay Area. She is obsessed with everyday absurdity, and her observational and personal humor will get you thinking and keep you laughing.
Kate Willett is a San Francisco based comedian and actress. You might have seen her perform at Cobb's, The Punchline, or any number of dive bars throughout the country. As an actress, she has performed throughout the US with companies such as Shakespeare and Company, Word for Word, Woman's Will, and the Samuel Beckett Theater in Dublin, Ireland. She is the host the weekly radio show, The Mission Position, on radiovalencia.fm. She's also the co-host of the Comikaze Lounge, a new monthly show at Cafe Royale with a focus on smart comedy.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (celebrating its 20th anniversary this December); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion; and Comedy Returns to El Rio.
