Body in Balance for Active Aging -- Faye Baker
Thursday March 2 , 10:00pm - 12:00noon

United Methodist Church, Atascadero

$5 for LLCC members, $10 for non-members

Re-tune your body with some easy methods and exercises to improve breathing, posture, and relaxation. Based on Tai Chi and Qigong, Body in Balance for Active Aging improves balance, flexibility, calms the mind, and soothes the central nervous system. Some of the other benefits of  these practices are improved circulation, strength, range of motion, awareness, and enjoyment.

Qigong (chi gung), the parent of Tai Chi, is a healing art and is easier to learn than Tai Chi. Qi/Chi means breath or energy and gong (gung) means practice. Qigong exercises are designed to align the body for maximum efficiency, oxygenate the blood, and stimulate the immune system. Qigong can be practiced in small spaces, either standing, seated, or lying down.

You will learn how to use self-acupressure techniques and simple methods to enhance your overall health and vitality.  Qigong can be practiced at any age and ability, and you should be able to easily adapt these techniques for recovery from injuries and various health conditions. The exercises are fun to learn and easily integrated in daily life  at home, work, and any health regime.

All are welcome to join in and learn about these ancient arts. Plus, it is fun to learn something new that is so very old  Arts for a Lifetime of health and vitality.

Faye Baker is a certified instructor (Sifu) in Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong, Longevity Breathing and is an acupressurist. Baker been teaching movement arts for over 30 years and has worked in the physical therapy field. She specializes in helping people use easy functional exercises to bring more comfort and ease into their daily lives.
