MOVING STORIES
Find the story within you that seeks expression, now.
Wednesday evening workshops: moving and telling - your unique stories. Six weeks, with a sharing evening.
Improv techniques, stage craft & theraputic approaches to story.
Cost: £95/£80/£65 Full/Concession/Subsidised Venue: The Events Space, Hamilton House
March 15th to April 26th: Wokshops 7:00-8:30pm (Excluding the first week of April) April 30th: Performance or sharing in circle. Alongside parallel workshop group 'The Tao of Dance & Theatre'.
HOW WE WILL WORK:
Drawing both on performative techniques in physical theatre, textural movement, narrative build and vocal maluability. And approaching telling from a personal development perspective: mindful listening, breath work and movement practises.
The fusion of performance techniques and personal development approaches provide fertile soil for both: imaginitve, symbolic stories, as well as ones from our own life experience.
Each individual will choose as to whether they wish to work towards sharing with the closed group in circle, or in an audience-performer set up, open to friends, family and course participants on the 30h of April.
Participants are invited to bring a story of approximately 10 - 15 minutes, from their own lives, an imaginative piece they have written, or a pre-written story/legend/myth.
Throughout there will be one-on-one direction and personalised feedback as well as group work.
Creatively Safe and Creatively Stretched: These workshops will be both fun and reflective: Creatively stretching participants to tell in their own unique style.
DEBORAH - FACILITATOR:
The course is led by Deborah Ward, here is a little more about her and some quotes from previous workshop participants:
A theatre maker, director, performer, storyteller, spoken word artist and clown.
For her, the essence of theatre is the joy of discovering the power of our imaginations, through the moving body.
Deborah graduated from London International School of Performance Art, LISPA, in 2011. She started theatre company SynaesTheatre in 2014, with them and as a solo artist she has performed at numerous fringe festivals and theatres, in London, Edinburgh, Brighton, Bristol, France and South Korea.
