Maui Choral Arts Association Winter Concert
Maui Choral Arts Association (MCAA) in Strategic Partnership with Musical Voices Maui announces its annual winter Holiday concert on Friday, December 14th at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m. Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Gary Shin-Leavitt has put together a distinctive program that blends moving classics such as Magnificat, from the Monteverdi Vespers and Daniel Pinkham's Christmas Cantata, with original arrangements of contemporary works and a few unexpected surprises. Additionally, the program will include selections performed by Olinda Chorale, MCAA's smaller ensemble group celebrated for harmony and crisp sound.
With more than sixty voices for its 2012 - 2013 Season, MCAA has brought together the largest gathering of Maui musicians in its history. Joining the singers this season is the Stephen Rodrigues and the Baldwin High School Brass Band. "We are thrilled to be able to showcase the remarkable talents of the Baldwin High School students", says Shin-Leavitt. "MCAA is uniquely capable to integrate the abundance of talented musicians residing throughout our island community into our winter and future programs." Joining Rodrigues and his students in the roster of local talent is Guest Conductor, Bob Willis. Wills, a nationally renowned vocalist, is perhaps best known on Maui as the conductor of the annual Masterworks Festival.
