Snap on 2&4 w/ Rory Hoffman
The Nashville Jazz Workshop is pleased to present the debut Snap on 2&4 appearance of virtuoso guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Rory Hoffman. The performance will take place Friday, February 24 at 8pm in the Jazz Cave at the NJW.
Rory Hoffman is a Nashville based multi-instrumentalist. Raised on a small ranch in North Dakota, Rory grew up recording and touring with the family Gospel band. He started teaching himself to play guitar and piano at age 3. By age 5 he was the drummer in the family band. He currently plays over a dozen stringed, keyboard and wind instruments.
Rory has played the Grand Ole Opry numerous times, as a soloist and as a sideman with Ricky Skaggs, Kathy Mattea and John Cowan. Working with these stars and others has enabled him to play several notable festivals, including Telluride with John Cowan, and Djangofest as part of the John Jorgenson quintet. Kacey Musgraves has asked Rory to play on her Christmas album, and to be part of the 2016 tour promoting that release. He has performed in Norway, Italy and Jamaica thus far and deeply enjoys any opportunities to travel the world, experiencing the culture and sharing music. When not out on the road touring, Rory is proud to be in several local Nashville bands, including 50 Shades of Hay, and the Gypsy hombres.
"Just Jazz Guitar" and "Guitar Player" magazines have written feature articles about Hoffman's unique guitar style. Rory is 2-time winner of Musician of the Year from Nashville's ICMA, and is a 2012 inductee into the South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame.
Rory has appeared at the Jazz Workshop previously, first as a special Jam Session guest and most recently as a guest artist at NJW's Summer Jazz Camp. We're delighted to present his debut appearance in the Jazz Cave as a leader.
There will be two sets, beginning at 8pm. Tickets will be $25 for adults / $15 high school and college students with ID. They will be available for advance purchase on Monday, February 13at 10AM. Tickets may be purchased online here, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006), or during daytime business hours at the NJW office (615-242-5299). A small convenience charge is added to online or 800-number purchases. Ticket sales are final.
Seating is reserved.Seating is a combination of 4-person tables and bar stools. SEE BELOW FOR A VENUE MAP. Parties of less than four may be seated at tables with other patrons.
Policies: The Jazz Cave is a BYOB establishment, with no alcohol or food service. You are free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks. We sell soft drinks and bottled water. The Jazz Cave is a listening room, and we ask patrons to keep conversation to a minimum and silence cell phones.
