Bryan Mayer
With his towering height and powerful voice, Bryan Mayer, is making a BIG impact on the country music scene. A North Carolina native, the six foot seven singer/songwriter began his journey in music when he was 13. The son of a US Marine Corp Colonel and a Navy nurse, while stationed in Quantico, VA, Bryan was tapped by his middle school teacher, Dr. Drake, to play upright bass in the school band, for his already impressive height of 61 in the seventh grade. Although Bryan enjoyed playing the bass, the lore of the front man aspect and realizing he could sing led him to pick up the guitar. After some impromptu performances at keg parties at his house in college at ECU, Bryan ended up on the Carolina sands of Oak Island, NC. It was there that he started crafting his style and gutting it out in any bar, restaurant, or private party that would hire him. Everyone would always tell me that I was going to make it someday. Some wondered why I hadnt already, says Mayer. I knew this was what I was put on earth to do. In 2008, he began writing and recording his first original demo album, Long Story Short, at the home studio/garage of his buddies and fellow North Carolina country rockers, Parmalee. Bryan sold copies of his album at shows and festivals all over Eastern North Carolina. Then in 2010, Bryan ended up with an opportunity to open for CMA nominated country artist, Love and Theft. Singer/guitarist, Steven Lyle Barker, the inspiration behind Taylor Swifts hit, Hey Steven, pulled him aside and praised Mayers great tone, strong delivery, and overall feel. Steven told him that Nashville and country music was where he was destined to be. I hung out with Steven after watching he and Eric play, and realized he was right. This is exactly the sound I had been looking for, says Mayer. Being a southern man from North Carolina, Bryan identified with the bonfires, days on the river, and the simple yet meaningful life that country is. Bryan had written and performed parody songs for the Top 40 radio station BOB 93.3 and began to resurrect, Down East Earl, a character that he had created years before on Greg and Crystals morning show on 96.3 The HotFM. Because the stations were in the same building, he began to play the character on 95.1 WRNSs Mantel in the Morning show. It wasnt long after that the 100,000 watt country radio powerhouse took notice of Mayers talent and began to use him as a frequent opener at concerts for country headliners such as, Trace Adkins, Chase Rice, Kip Moore, Jerrod Niemann, Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan, Eli Young Band, The Band Perry, Thompson Square, and dozens more including southern rock legends, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Years before, Bryan had already performed with Marshall Tucker and Blackfoot, fueling his love and passion for southern rock and country music. In the meantime, while performing and diving head first into the singer/songwriter world, Mayer made and attempt to write his first country song, an autobiographical ballad called, This is Me. After WRNS Program Director and songwriter, Tommy Garrett, heard the song, he promised Bryan that if he had it recorded with hot new Nashville Producer, Stokes Nielson, of the Lost Trailers, he would play it on his Top 40 Country station 95.1 WRNS. The station, which covers over 1/3 of the entire state of North Carolina, began to get Facebook message, emails, and phone requests for the song. People just identify with this song. Its about who we are as people growing up, young and old. I think that there is an anthem feel to it, and our country has a new pride for growing up in the USA. After numerous times as #1 on the WRNS, Six Most Wanted At Six, a daily countdown of the most requested songs, This is Me, reached #48 on the Mediabase Country Charts on a four day peak, and #80 overall in July of 2014, giving Bryan his first Top 100 Country song. In September, 2014, This is Me also broke into the Top 100 on the prestigious Music Row Charts based in Nashville.

Bryan has since worked with Producer, Tyler Cain, who has also been a guitarist for Big and Rich, Thompson Square, and James Otto. 2014 was a breakthrough year for Mayer, being nominated in three categories at the CM Awards, for Best Male Country of the Year, Music Video of the year for his single, Leaving Town, and Best Male Artist. He walked away as a first time nominee with the 2014 Best Male Country Artist of the Year award. In December of 2014, with help from his manager Shawn Mitchell, Bryan sparked the interest of former Sony representative, and now CEO of Nine North Records, Larry Pareigis. Larry and his staff heard his single, This is Me, and knew the hit power that it had right away. The song had already been played on hundreds of country stations all across the USA and has even received international attention on the UK Hot Disc chart, peaking at #6 and in Belgium at #3. With a new market of monitored and larger radio stations including iHeart radio, Bryan and Nine North Records set their sights on breaking into the Billboard Country Indicator charts in summer of 2015, and by August they had reached and surpassed that goal making that single a Billboard Country Indicator Top 60 at #54. Following the success both regionally and nationally of This Is Me, Mayer will release his new catchy party anthem Lil Bit Naughty to Country radio late 2015-early 2016.The song definitely showcases Mayers fun loving side and is sure to be a favorite among tailgating, shot-drinking country fans. Follow Bryans journey on Facebook, Twitter, CMT.com, and other social media. If you are looking to add a new and promising Country voice and talent to your playlist, look no further than Country musics future big man, Bryan Mayer.
