MONKEYJUNK w/ SHAUN VERREAULT TRIO
MonkeyJunk is excited to return to the west coast - In their 4 year history, MonkeyJunk has made quite a ruckus . . . their brand of soul boogie, bedroom funk and swamp rock has taken them on tour all over Canada, the United States and Europe. They have recorded 2 CDs in their brief time as a band. Their first is named Tiger In Your Tank (released independently and now available on Vizztone Records) and their most recent is named To Behold (released on Stony Plain Records and distributed by Warner Music Canada). They have won numerous awards including 12 Maple Blues Awards, a Blues Music Award in Memphis, Tennessee; a Canadian Independent Music Award and To Behold won this year's 2012 JUNO AWARD for Best Blues Album!!! Album number three is in their sights with a planned release of March 2013 and they plan to deliver more of their signature melting pot of influences and musical textures - this time delivered with more punch and panache!

Shaun Verreault: Who is Shaun Verreault? More than the credited glory of "Band Member #1" in the movie The Recruit or a man helping the people of Canada rock out thanks to appearances on television shows such as Rock Camp and Hockeyville, he is a man in love with music. Often recognised as the guitarist and primary vocalist for Canada's Wide Mouth Mason, Shaun Verreault's musical life alongside his band finds himself in the role of a modern-day troubadour, putting a life's worth of observations, memories, and thoughts into songs that need to be heard. As a man without his band, his ties to Wide Mouth Mason's roots build a strong basis for his solo acoustic work, with a few tracks on his solo CD being familiar to his fans from Wide Mouth Mason as stripped-down tracks from Wide Mouth Mason's song catalogue where the essence of solo is defined musically as a man. His guitar. And the words the man sings. Shaun also rocks out in TRIO format and has an uncanny ability to get a room moving with deep grooves, cutting guitar and soaring vocals.
