Wild Women of the West, Part I
An idea was born during rehearsals of Mendo BobFest this year. Looking around the room of performers, Mendocino Stories and Music Series director Pattie DeMatteo decided to produce a two-night event celebrating the wonderful and talented women of our area. Part I is on Friday November 2, at the Hill House of Mendocino, starting at 7:30PM.
From the opening of the weekend with O Lei Palaoa hula to the return of Sherry Glaser-Love's "The End Is Here/We Surrender" this evening will be one to remember. Hula will be gracefully performed by Sally Stewart, Annie Lee, Anne Yount and Diane Larson. Belly Dance Troupe Trillium Tribe and Lavender Grace will follow, creating unique dances drawn from the traditional tribal styles of Egypt, Turkey, and North Africa. Poet Jewels Marcus has a story to tell and tells it well. "The End Is Here/We surrender" debuts before the Presidential election. "It's a fitting challenge and tribute to our times and the crossroads before us," says Sherry.
Doors open at 6:30PM. Dinner menu and full bar. Reserved seating $20, General admission $15 in advance, $20 at the door. For more information, call 937-1732 or visit www.mendocinostories.com.
