The Last of the Haussmans A new play by Stephen Beresford Running Time: 2 hrs 40 min, including interval of 20 min In just a few weeks' time, The Last of the Haussmans will be broadcast to cinemas around the world. Arena Theater will screen the play on Tuesday, October 23, 7 p.m.
All-day drinking, infatuations, resentments and free love collide in this blackly funny drama. Julie Walters plays Judy Haussman with Rory Kinnear and Helen McCrory as her wayward children in one of the best-reviewed new plays to open in London this year: a funny, touching and sometimes savage portrait of a family that's losing its grip. A new production directed by Olivier Award-winner Howard Davies (The Cherry Orchard, National Theatre, 2011).
One of Britain's best-loved and most versatile actors, Julie Walters has won BAFTA and Golden Globe Awards for her work in films ranging from Educating Rita to Billy Elliot to Mamma Mia! and the Harry Potter films. In 2001 she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in All My Sons. Rory Kinnear recently won the Evening Standard Award for Best Actor for his performance as Hamlet at the National Theatre. Helen McCrory's acclaimed work includes the films The Queen and, recently, Hugo.
'Deliciously comical.' Evening Standard 'A knockout - entertaining, sad and outrageous.' Observer 'Julie Walters's sense of comic timing is remarkable, a performance that mingles humour with great pathos.' Daily Express
