Make n' Take: Making Zines and Printing Shirts
A zine is a small self published booklet that contains original images or text, that is usually reproduced by a photocopier. In this workshop, you will learn how to produce your own handmade zine with drawing, text and collage. Each workshop participant will also create a page to go into a collaborative zine that will be published and sold at Groovy Dog Gallery! This workshop will include an explanation in how to digitally print a zine, a few different folding techniques, binding techniques, and information about the screen printing process for creating merchandise. Please bring your own shirt to screen print your own Groovy Dog Gallery shirt.
Shaun Watson is an artist and illustrator based in Milwaukee. He has published numerous zines and prints and in August 2016, was the curator of a large group art show and pop up shop called "Fitz and Friends". He is now the owner and operator of Groovy Dog Gallery in Riverwest, which hosts events and shows showcasing local and international artists, as well as sells independently made merchandise, including zines, pins and prints.
