Oratory|Bach Cantata 192
While the 200+ Cantatas of J.S. Bach receive regular performances across the globe, rarely are they performed as he intended - 'musical sermons' within the context of a worship service. The professional ensemble, Oratory, makes it's Minnesota debut with a presentation of Cantata 192 in a Feast Of Reformation service. Emerging conductor Matthew J. Olson leads a consort of exceptional Baroque musicians in an experience fusing together congregational hymnody with the music of Bach and his contemporaries. Furthermore, constructive theologian Jacob Erickson offers ruminations from the pulpit and organist Steve Self presents works Bach himself played and programmed as prelude and postlude.
