PTA Lecture - 'Talking to your children about sex' by Alex Fryer
Young people today cannot help but be deeply influenced and affected by the challenging world in which they are growing up. The impact of the Internet and social media means that they are constantly exposed to the normalisation of abnormal behaviour, not least of all when it comes to relationships and sex.
We cannot protect young people from this but we can help them to make better sense of it and by providing relevant and helpful information we can help them make better choices and so avoid emotional and physical harm.
Alex is one of the UKs leading PSHE Speakers specialising in issues around sex and relationships. She has many years of experience providing information and advice to both young people and their parents. Alex is well known to St Catherines and comes and speak to our girls regularly as part of the PSHE/Life Matters curriculum. Her talk will centre around what she covers with our girls, communicating with our children about sex and relationships, how to go about it and why it is so important.
Alex has to date visited around 100 schools throughout the UK talking to children, staff and parents. We are delighted that we have been able to secure her to speak to St Cats parents this year. This is made possible by your support of PTA events throughout the year.
The talk will last c.45 minutes and there will then be ample time for questions and discussion. The doors and the bar will be open from 7pm. We look forward to welcoming you to the lecture.
