Music in the Gallery - Shannon Dunne & Alex Boatright: Erin Go Braugh!
Please join us for a delightful taste of Ireland in a one-hour celebration of St. Patrick's Day featuring dancer-musician Shannon Dunne and cellist Alex Boatright. Experience old-style sean nós dancing, singing, and the sounds of traditional instruments.
Widely renowned for her percussive dancing and concertina playing, Shannon Dunne has performed at theaters and festivals all over North America and Ireland. She is the founder/director of Camp Shenanigans, a performing arts program for children on Capitol Hill, and Shannon Dunne Dance, a multi-generational sean nós dance group dedicated to preserving the steps and values of the dance form.
Cellist Alex Boatright is a multiple All-Ireland medalist and is also one of the premier concertina and harp players in the United States. She has performed as a soloist with the Appalachian Symphony Orchestra and in several string quartets and orchestras in the D.C. metro area.
After the concert, there will be a meet-the-artist reception with wine and cheese, cider and sweets. Also an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful tapestries on display in Ulrika Leander's studio and gallery.
