Learn how to convert your own washing machine into a water-saving laundry-to-landscape greywater system. This system is low in cost, doesn't require a permit, and is great for irrigating trees, bushes, and other perennial plants. In this hands-on workshop sponsored by EBMUD and led by Greywater Action, you'll learn about and participate in the construction and installation of a real laundry-to-landscape greywater system. No prior experience is required. You will gain the knowledge and experience to plan and install your own greywater system.
The workshop will cover:
* Graywater principles * Best plants to water with graywater * Common pitfalls and how to avoid them * Steps, materials, and installation for a simple graywater system from the washing machine
Installation site is located in Berkeley, CA. Lunch is provided for this workshop. Rain or shine, barring severe storms.
Space is limited to 20 participants. Register online. If registration fee is a barrier, please contact us by email.
This class is part of a graywater educational event series taking place in various East Bay communities in 2017. This series is a collaboration between EBMUD, the Ecology Center, and Greywater Action.
