Citizen Science Workshop for Teachers in the Elementary Classroom
This workshop is open to elementary school teachers, and is offered as a partnership between UC Davis School of Education and Pepperwood Preserve.
In citizen science projects, students contribute to science by making observations and collecting data that professional scientists use to generate new scientific knowledge. This workshop will introduce participants to what citizen science is and what it looks like in the elementary classroom. We will share our research-based framework, introduce activities such as scientific sketching and data collection, and plan for implementation in the classroom. The workshop will include discussion of how citizen science connects to the Next Generation Science Standards.
