In 1945, Holocaust survivor Miklos Gardos, was diagnosed with tuberculosis, sent to a Swedish hospital, and given six months to live. Determined to find love, Miklos wrote letters to 117 recovering Hungarian survivors and found the woman of his dreams. Despite illness, hardships, and betrayals, the two married and had a son, film director Peter Gardos. His parents never spoke of their turbulent past. After Miklos death, his mother gave him the packets of letters the two had exchanged which form the basis of this moving film.
