Now celebrating its SIXTH YEAR, Chop Shop: Bodies of Work is the only annual contemporary dance festival held on the Eastside. Recognized as one of the most important dance events of the year, Chop Shop serves up a unique and prolific sampling of contemporary dance from leading local, national and international award-winning dance makers from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The Festival also features master classes and lectures by the Artistic Directors and Choreographers from the Festival as well as FREE community outreach programs (the 'Experience Dance Project') designed to enhance the viewer's experience. Please join us in the Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 17th at 1:00pm for a free event, "Reading Dance", hosted by Eva Stone and featuring the Choreographers and Artistic Directors from the Festival. This unique lecture/demonstration demystifies and reveals the creative process of how contemporary dance is made. Audience members will discover the type of movement language contemporary dance uses, learn how a dance piece is formed, and be able to ask questions of the choreographer and dancers about the artistic process.
