Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major
Haydn: Piano Concerto No. 11 in D Major
Roger Xia, age fourteen, is a 9th grade student at Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High School in Davis, California. He is also enrolled as a pre-college student at San Francisco Conservatory of Music since 2014.
Roger is a talented young musician, both on violin and piano. He started violin studies with Dong Ho when he was six and continues with William Barbini since 2012. He started piano studies with Linda Beaulieu when he was five and has been studying with Dr. Natsuki Fukasawa since 2009.
As a violinist, Roger has been prize winners at the Pacific Musical Society Competition (2013, 2015 and 2016), CMTANC US International Music Competition (2012, 2013 & 2015), DVC competition (2016) and others. He was invited to perform at the Bear Valley Music Festival and the Junior Bach Festival in Berkeley. He was greatly inspired by taking violin master classes with Kam-Lung Cheng, Haik Kazazyan, Feng Ning and Wei-Dong Tong.
As a pianist, Roger has won many awards and prizes, such as first places in United States Open Music Competition (USOMC), Sylvia Ghiglieri piano competition, CMTANC International Youth Music Competition, and Classical Masters Music Festival Competition. In 2015, he won the Mondavi Young Artists Competition and the Bouchaine Young Artists Prize. In March 2016, Roger was featured on the From the Top show 322.
