DIY Holidays: Handmade Recipe Albums- Cancelled
18 Reasons Tuesday, December 11, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, Ticketed DIY Holidays: Handmade Recipe Albums $65 for 18 Reasons members; $75 for general public
Personalized recipe collections are among the most valuable gifts you can share with family and friends. Whether remembering Nai Nai's best cookies or celebrating a couple's next chapter in their lives together, handmade recipe albums offer a perfect way to nurture connections and creativity.
It's easy. It's fun. And the small financial investment will offer endless returns for generations.
In this studio class, you'll learn two simple yet versatile and creative bindings: 1) an accordion-fold variation with vellum sleeves 2) a banded folio book.
Both basic techniques allow for the addition of pages over time as well as the easy collation of recipes from different sources. Most importantly, they are simple backgrounds for expressing your unique stories, memories and artistry.
Recipes can be collected beforehand, or they can be added later. We will work with archival-quality materials (excluding ephemera and photos.) Depending on interest in the class, we can discuss recipe formats that use space efficiently along with tips for gathering recipes within families, across languages and over long distances.
Class fee includes the cost of materials. You will receive a small bookbinding kit, and all paper, glue and binding supplies will be provided. Registered attendees will later receive more detailed information about ideal recipe formats, photos, ephemera, and basic equipment to bring to class (e.g. scissors & ruler).
No experience required. Youth 12 years and older are welcomed to take the class with an accompanying adult.
