It's 2017, we mourn injustices collectively through hashtags and Twitter feeds, we seek comfort in videos and Beyoncés visual manifestos. Simultaneously art, particularly writing, begs the question: Can a writer really act as a witness to another voice? This poetry class will explore the connection between writing and social change. We will read and discuss a wide range of voices, and write poems that reflect on current social topics.
