Sodality: Word for Word Celebrates it's 20th Anniversary with Stories by Zona Gale
sodality [soh-dal-i-tee]: comradeship, society, fellowship; the strength of coming together
Momentously, for the 20th anniversary celebration in August of 2013, the entire Word for Word Charter Group will perform stories by Zona Gale, who, in 1921, was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. These are stories about a small American town in the beginning of the last century, and speak of the "sodality" of women, of community, democracy and of a group that has been together for many years in good times and bad not unlike the Word for Word Performing Arts Company!
On November 5th, get a glimpse of our 20th Anniversary production, when we do a staged reading of one of the stories - "The Face of Friendship Village", which centers on election day in the village, the women's frustration at seeing how the men take their democratic right for granted, and at not being able to take part.
