"Lincoln Jones made the most complex issues seem like child's play in a beguiling 'Dance and Design'..." - Los Angeles Times
Seven hours in seven years, and you'll have one of the best dance educations that has ever been available.
Starting in 2017, ACB will recreate the dances and dance crazes that fascinated generations and influenced history. We begin in the Renaissance
Year I: The Naked Souls of Kings And Queens*
See what dancing was actually like in the time of Lucrezia Borgia, Lorenzo de' Medici, and Leonello d'Este. You wont just see how they danced, you'll see the actual dances. And they all danced.
This was a time when the movements of your body were considered a reflection of your soul, so dancing well was really important.
You'll not only see what Lorenzo the Magnificent (the man who ruled Florence, patronized Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, and barely escaped assassination at knifepoint) danced, you'll also see what he choreographed.
The dances of history were performed live. See them that way.
*This program looks at the earliest precursor to ballet that is notated 100 years earlier than the first dance presented at ACBs 2016 Evolution of Ballet!
Its not just the show! Enjoy wine, conversation and live jazz with the artists and other audience members overlooking the rooftops of LAs skyscrapers. Its all included in your ticket price.
