We kick off our 3rd season of Detroit's largest poetry/live music series, Mahogany @ The Museum, with a celebration of black romance and the 20th anniversary of the classic movie, Love Jones. This is an event for the grown, sexy, and romantic. Whether you're single and ready or in a loving relationship. Let's get swanky, get together, and get ready to celebrate the beauty of black love!

7pm (sharp)
DOORS OPEN/LOVE JONES SCREENING.
The evening will begin with cocktails and a screening of Love Jones. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, mingle, and support The Detroit Based Marketplace. 12 carefully selected, local artisans, selling everything from handmade jewelry to gourmet chocolates. A cash bar will also be available serving beer, wine, mixed drinks & premium craft cocktails for guests to enjoy while watching the show.

9pm
SHOWTIME.
Some of Detroit's finest poets, singers & musicians, will interpret themes from the movie and songs from the soundtrack. Our event curator and host, Joel Fluent Greene, will be playing the role of Darius (Brother To The Night). & renowned poet, host, and slam champion, Peace, will be our beloved Nina. If you loved the movie, have no fear. We've got your back! This is for the hardcore fans and all lovers of romantic words. Each cast member is putting their own spin on things, and supplying a fresh and connected experience unlike any other. Poetry, music, dance, and art will blend seamlessly to properly pay tribute to film that helped change the face of open mic poetry around the country!

MUSIC, MIX & MINGLE W/DJ EQUAD.
Detroit's favorite, DJ Equad, will be supplying the vibe with songs from the Love Jones Soundtrack & other romantic Soul, R&B, Jazz & Hip Hop classics! Dance, flirt, shop, sip and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere that is The Wright Museum!
