Something Old, Something New: UNDERWORLD, U.S.A. & ELECTION
While October might be traditionally be a time of horrific monsters and creepy crawlies, we thought that the presentation of the darker side of criminal life would fit *right* in with that chilling underbelly just in a slightly different way! Come see two rarely screened films on 35mm at the New Beverly Cinema on October 11th and 12th. See two masters of the silver screen, Samuel Fuller and Johnnie To, as they explore the dark side of life, and feature some of the most powerful visuals that have ever been committed to celluloid.
UNDERWORLD and ELECTION are films truly created for the big screen and not meant to be seen at home, so please join us! While the 11th will be a regular screening, the 12th will be the AMIA Event and will feature AWESOME special prizes and possible guests and other exciting activities, TBA. Come for the noir narrative and stay for the Triad terror!
Let guys like Cliff Robertson and Simon Yam help you understand exactly why it is that we do continue to have such a passion for theatrical viewing and heavy duty crime films from all over the world! Fear and monstrosity doesn't have to stem from physical deformity...it can be borne from the basest of criminal actions. Join us for Something Old, Something New #7, give some money to a good cause (the Association of Moving Image Archivists Student Chapter at UCLA) and enjoy these rare films!
