"LA CHIVA"
SYNOPIS Set in 1947, "La Chiva" is the story of Gloria, a young Mexican girl who is chosen out of her six sisters to receive a new dress. Gloria and her mother negotiate with the tailor to buy the dress for installments totaling five dollars. But when Gloria's father comes home with a milking goat, tragedy ensues. The goat eats Gloria's dress and Gloria must face the harsh reality of returning to her tattered old dress. "La Chiva" is the story of one little girl's strength to endure poverty and an elegant portrait of an immigrant family striving to achieve the American dream. "HANNAH HENRI"
SYNOPSIS - In this charming New York story, Lola Segal has never been in love and it shows. The queen of one-night stands, the serial heartbreaker has spent a lifetime of avoiding falling in love. But then she meets Hannah Henri, and her world turns upside down. Hannah diagnoses Lola afflicted with a "virgin heart," a heart that has never experienced the agony and ecstasy of being in love. Neither therapy nor threats from her close friends convince Lola to stay the course. But when Hannah breaks up with her, she faces a reality she's never felt before. When her father wisely advises her, "There's no greater feeling than when a woman takes you as her own," Lola reaches for the ultimate, winning back Hannah's love and stepping into the world of loving bliss. Presented in black and white, "Hannah Henri" is a quirky homage to Woody Allen's masterpieces, "Manhattan" and "Annie Hall."
