Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival returns to North Lake Tahoe .... a Celebratiion of the human-powered winter experience!
The 12th Annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival will show in Tahoe City on February 21st at Granlibakken Resort. The Backcountry Film Festival is part of the nine-day long winter Alpenglow Mountain Festival presented by DPS Skis.
The event is a fundraiser for SWEP, with 100% of proceeds given to the beloved local non-profit.
Sierra Watershed Education Partnership collaborates with the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Education Association (TCCSEA) to offer the Winter Discovery Program at the base of the Tahoe Cross Country Center just outside of Tahoe City. The Winter Discovery Program is an official SnowSchool site that works with local schools to provide winter ecology field trips that combine science explorations with cross country skiing. Third through fifth grade classes are encouraged to participate two to three times throughout the winter season.
The Backcountry Film Festival is produced each year by Winter Wildlands Alliance as a celebration of the human-powered experience and a gathering place for the backcountry snowsports community. Winter Wildlands Alliance is a nonprofit organization working at the national level to inspire and educate the backcountry community to protect and care for their winter landscapes. Funds raised at each screening stay in the local community to support human-powered recreation and conservation efforts, winter education and avalanche/safety programs and to raise awareness of winter management issues.
