LAI October Tour
The new headquarters for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is one of the greenest office buildings in North America. The $190 million project, completed this past spring, includes wind turbines, solar panels, raised flooring, a gray water system, and many other cutting-edge features that will reduce energy consumption by 32% , water consumption by 60%, and the building's carbon footprint by 50% compared to similarly sized office buildings, and is on track to be certified as LEED Platinum. Harlan Kelly, recently appointed General Manager for the Commission, will guide us on a tour of this unique building, tell us how it came to be, and discuss what lies ahead for the SFPUC. The tour meets at 525 Golden Gate Avenue at 11:30.
